My Big Breakfast Club ($18 nett) took a while to be served, but thankfully I had my coffee (double shot as a default) to keep me happy.
Big Breakfast Club with Soft Boiled Eggs & Mushrooms
Wasn’t feeling a scramble or sunny-side up, so soft boiled it was for me. These are basically hard boiled eggs with a runny yolk, which is how I usually cook them on my own as snack prep. On a brunch platter, though, I wish they had poached eggs (my favourite) as an option..
Mushrooms were my choice of “meat” (for lack of a better word) – as opposed to smoked salmon, ham or bacon. These were plentiful, juicy, & appreciated. Great toasting technique on the sourdough toast as well – crispy but not hard. The spicy baked beans didn’t actually feel spicy to me, but lent good flavour to the platter. Was glad to get my veggies in with the halloumi side salad, although the cheese didn’t do much for me & I honestly would’ve been okay without it.
In all, a nice brunch platter that piqued my curiosity. I would love to try their other brunch, pasta, & bagels on the menu. Especially since The Food Peeps Coffee & Deli is such a nice (albeit small) place to chill at. I can totally see myself spending a nice afternoon here relaxing.

Seng Coffee Bar – another cafe whose interior decor I really like! Am plugged in to their WiFi & streaming my Spotify playlist with earphones on – for some much-needed me time. & I do feel quite relaxed. 😁
Crabmeat Egg Benedict
I ordered the Crabmeat Egg Benedict ($18+), as I was craving something brunchy & unique. It’s conceptually appealing, but I felt there was something missing from this. Would’ve liked more dimension to the flavours.. Some form of heat or acidity would be welcomed. Maybe some cherry tomatoes or a dash of cayenne pepper?
Hot White Coffee
The Hot White Coffee ($5+) was goooood, though. Would return to have a cup of coffee & try the other food items on their menu. I have my eye on the salted egg chicken burger (yes they have lunch mains too)!

Sarnies’ coffee beans are going at an awesome 1-for-1 ’til 1st June 2020! Simply walk in to their store along Telok Ayer street to purchase, or order online with the promo code WENEEDCOFFEE.
Coffee beans & a nice note from Sarnies
I got the Meerkat blend, described as: whiffs of sweetness when freshly ground; a chocolate & nutty aroma, followed by a smooth lingering toasty aftertaste. Bought a bag for me, & a bag to give away (since I can’t finish 2 bags that quickly). You can opt for various grind sizes: Whole bean/espresso/filter/french press.
There was a bit of communication breakdown regarding what I wanted – I walked in asking for a coarse grind, & they kindly ground the beans on the spot for me 👍🏻 But I realized when I reached home that they’d given me an espresso grind.
It’s not easy to communicate & confirm details through a mask, I guess.. So next time I think I’ll write my order down or place it online for self collection. The benefit of walking in-store is that you get Shopback GO cashback, so that’s my preference 😁
Besides selling coffee beans, Sarnies also sells breakfast/brunch/lunch grub! With the promo code HELLO10, you get a nice 10% off your online order. I placed mine a day in advance & paid up using PayPal after details were WhatsApped to me. Other payment options: iBanking/PayNow. Whatever method you use, payment must be done before your order is confirmed.
Yummy Quinoa Salad
Their Quinoa Salad ($15.50 nett) looks like health, tastes like DELICIOUS health. You’ve got feta, olives, pomegranate, pistachios – tossed in a bed of spinach & fluffy quinoa with cumin dressing. My mum & I enjoyed this, & we would order this again.
Sarnies’ Brunch Wrap Set – so good
My favourite item from Sarnies’ menu was the Brunch Wrap Set ($13.50 nett) – only available online on weekends & public holidays for brunch. My wrap of choice was the Breakfast Wrap (U.P. $9.50 nett), which is stuffed with eggs, roasted tomatoes & mushrooms.
The description alone reads like a deliciously good idea; biting into it convinced me this was a GREAT idea. Despite a 20-minute drive home, it was still warm, yet not soggy. The eggs were fluffy, mushrooms juicy & earthy, & acidity & slight char of the tomatoes gave life to this wrap. I shared it with my parents, & they were impressed.
The set comes with a drink of choice – any coffee/tea/kombucha. I had a Flat White (U.P. $5 nett), & I honestly don’t need to say anything about their coffee ‘cos I’ve gushed about it so much already. Consistently tasty, strong, & this is why I keep coming back.
Sarnies stash, mm mm yeahhh

Strangers’ Reunion has free delivery for orders >$50, which honestly isn’t too difficult to hit with a couple of dishes. I ordered some of these items while they were on sale, & ended up spending more than double required for free delivery… LOL.
Strangers’ Reunion delivered a feast
Their delivery time slots are in 2-hour brackets; I chose 10AM – 12PM but indicated that I’d prefer as late as possible (“closer to 12PM”) & they actually took note of it.. Very appreciated!
Thanks for taking note of my note
Their Grain Bowl with Seasonal Vegetables caught my eye – with several options available, I went for the Hanger Steak with Chimichurri on a base of Quinoa ($16.00+).
The steak survived the delivery journey well. Even though it wasn’t warm anymore, when I bit into it & decided I didn’t need to heat this up to enjoy it. The hunky pieces of beef were still moist & tender; I wasn’t fighting tooth & nail to bite it into manageable pieces.
Grain Bowl with Seasonal Vegetables – I choose the Hanger Steak with Chimichurri on Quinoa
There was a nice variety of vegetables in the bowl too – various textures & flavours to keep things interesting. The onsen egg being kept separately such that you Add it in just before you eat? Brilliant idea. Mixed it in with the bed of fluffy quinoa & barley tucked right in. Quantity-wise, there were enough grains to pair with all the ingredients; glad they’re not stingy with that.
100% would order this dish again! Undecided if I should stick to this steaky goodie, or choose from their other options:
Grilled Chicken with Citrus Soy
Pan-seared Salmon with Spicy Shoyu
Charred Pork with Hoisin BBQ
Tofu & Tempeh with Ponzu (Vegan; No Egg)
Ps: If quinoa/barley isn’t quite your thing, you can opt for brown rice.
Strange Breakfast
There are many parts to the Strange Breakfast ($20.00+). You can choose eggs done 1 of 3 ways: Scrambled/poached/sunny side up. I chose the former. It had good texture, creamy & not watery or hard despite having roughed out the delivery ride.
However, the taste was WAY off. It was salty beyond belief, & this was unanimous feedback from everyone at the table. I would hope that was a one-off incident & the eggs don’t taste like this for everyone who orders this.
Thankfully, this wasn’t my main dish – if it were, I wouldn’t have eaten any more of the scrambled eggs past the first bite. It was just that salty. It was disappointing especially because it was the most expensive item of the order.
The rest of the brunch was okay – grilled tomato on vine, smashed potatoes, spiced beans, bacon, butcher’s choice sausage, toasted brioche & seasonal salad. The eggs really had potential to be the star of this dish, but I’m a bit afraid to re-order this again.
White Magic coffee is LOVE!
I’ve heard great reviews of White Magic ($6.90+), but even that wasn’t enough to prepare myself for my first sip. Guys, this is freaking amazing. Few other milky coffees can compare to this.
Don’t think that just because it’s “white”, thus it’s gonna be more milky than anything else (although, yes, it has a touch of cream in it)… Um, no.
I took a sip of this before an early morning meeting & this PERKED ME RIGHT UP. The caffeine boost slapped me right in the face. It lifted my mood so amazingly. It is pretty potent & robust. I would order this again in a heartbeat… I think I’m in love. 😍
Unfortunately, this cup of coffee was barely warm when it reached me
In comparison, I’d advise against getting their regular coffee delivered. I had a Coffee: White – Magic/Skinny ($5.50+) delivered, & it was okay… I drank it all, but didn’t impress me as much as the White Magic did. It didn’t have that robustness that I was hoping for in the caffeine department. Perhaps also because it was only lukewarm by the time it reached me.
I mean, it wasn’t terrible, but I’d pay a little bit more & get the White Magic.. Trust me.
Sarnies’ coffee always comes up top. They’re popular for a reason; consistent quality, smooth coffee that goes down easily, & every sip makes me happy.
1-for-1 Latte to Go
I redeemed a 1-for-1 coffee deal here thanks to Shopback GO. Pick anything off their extensive coffee menu – I chose a Latte ($5.00). This deal is valid for regular-sized drinks, which is the smallest size, but enough to keep me satisfied.
Even without 1-for-1, I’d pay full price for their coffee as I’ve done all these years. By paying with my Shopback GO linked credit card, I can clock loyalty rewards here each time.. Upon an accumulated spend of $30 (til 30 Jun), I can redeem a free coffee/tea. Can’t wait 😂
Salmon Cream Cheese Bagel with Latte
To make my journey worthwhile (& because I’m a little fatty), I also bought Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Bagel ($9.50 nett) to go. Bagels generally travel & keep well. Even when biting in at room temperature, it wasn’t stiff or tough. The cream cheese & capers within added creaminess & acidity to this breakfast delight.
Breakfast is available daily 7:30 – 11AM. Sarnies is one of the rare cafés that start their day so early – great for all you early birds who want to catch those worms 🙂
Bring A Clean Container… But Don’t Do This
Pro-tip: Perching your container on the dashboard while you drive home may seem like a good idea to keep your food warm under the sun… But when you make a right turn, your container is gonna slide away & fall to the ground.
Thank God my bagel fit snugly into the container I brought. It emerged from the tumble to the ground unharmed. #saynotobaddriving #strapyourfoodin #seatbeltsplease

Tucked in a corner of Onze @ Tanjong Pagar, an inconspicuous condominium nestled in a cul-de-sac, I don’t think That Coffee and Beer Place gets much passerby traffic. It was Burpple Beyond’s 1-for-1 deals that brought me here.
The Entrance to That Coffee and Beer Place
Burpple Beyond Premium Membership gives you 2 Coffee/Tea deals, 2 Set Meal deals. I originally wanted to just get a coffee, but the breakfast set (served 8 – 11AM, Mon – Sat) deal was pretty tempting.
Interior of That Coffee and Beer Place
Breakfast Set = 1 Baked Good + Coffee/Tea. There are 2 different price points: $6.90 or $5.90 per set. I bought the more expensive one, choosing both options for baked goods to cover all ground:
Turkey Ham & Cheese Croissant
Smoked Salmon Quiche
Both of these are $5.90 on their own, so this set is really worth it. & when you swipe Burpple Beyond’s 1-for-1 deal, you save even more!
2 Breakfast Sets
My croissant was deflated by the time I reached home, probably from being heated up before being packed away 😢 It looked sad, but was surprisingly delicious! Sufficient saltiness from the turkey ham, harmonized with the slight creaminess of the emmental cheese. The croissant wasn’t crispy anymore, but if you saw this as a light & flaky piece of bread, I guess that’s ok 😂
I thought I’d like the quiche more, but I wasn’t a fan of the mushyness of the salmon. I’d prefer larger flakes of chunky fish.. But that’s my preference. Taste wise, it was okay. It is pretty dense, with a good crumbly crust.
Which one would I order again? The croissant, actually. Even though the quiche is substantially more filling. I just liked the flavours a lot better.
What I liked best, though, was the Cafe Latte. It was creamy & smooth. Started my day off on a good note. I’d head back here again just for this when I next drop my sister off at work!
Great Latte
Or maybe I’ll try the $5.90 breakfast sets: Butter Croissant, Chocolate Danish, Jalapeño Cheese Brezel… Which one sounds good?
Ps: As you can infer from their name, they also serve beer here! I also love how they have a cute bottle opener mounted where the cash register is 😂

There’s always reason to try something new. For me, this is my first time dabao-ing beer in my own container!
Half Off Takeaway Draft Beer???
COVID-19 Circuit Breaker measures in Singapore – a month later, we’ll see 2 distinct groups of people emerge: (1) the Masterchefs, or (2) the Alcoholics Anonymous.
No prizes for guessing which group I belong to. Made my way down to FlagWhite after hearing about their half-off beer on tap promotion. They’d just opened a new keg before the Circuit Breaker measures kicked in place. Of course, I couldn’t let it go to waste!?!
Brought my own tumblers (meant for protein shakes lmao #fitspo) to dabao some beer home to have with dinner. Ended up getting twice the amount I originally planned for -although I think I was limited by the size of my container, so maybe not exactly twice.. But I’m happy to do my part to support my favourite local cafe.
Read for my Fitspo BEER SHAKE (just kidding)
I think we all know & love FlagWhite for their awesome brunch & coffee. I’d never drank anything alcoholic here before, tbh. But now that I know they have beer on tap… Maybe I should just set up a tent here & call this my new home. (After circuit breaker measures are over.)
Please continue to #loveyourlocalsg during this challenging time. Be responsible while you do so – wear a mask if you can, stay a safe distance away from others, & remember to wash your hands regularly (& moisturize!).

I’m glad I stopped by The M Plot after surfing Shopback GO for boosted cashback deals. They were running a 35% cashback (capped at $12) campaign & I caught it on the last day. Hooray for this unexpected discovery that they serve more than just macarons! They have cool 1-for-1 macaron deals on Burpple Beyond, & also are sometimes referred to as “The M Plot Macarons” in full, hence my confusion.
Started off my meal with a Flat White ($5.00 nett), which was served pretty quickly. It was fragrant with slight acidity to it. Not the best I’ve had, but I would order it again.
Flat White
For my brunch main, I ordered the Organic Eggs Benedict ($18.00 nett), which is served on a single artisan sourdough bread. The 2 eggs were poached to perfection; as I cut into them, the yolks burst open with gusto onto the sautéed spinach & grilled ham underneath.
The grilled ham was unfortunately way too salty for me, coupled with the already-tangy Hollandaise sauce, I felt the flavours were very overpowering. If the saltiness could be tweaked a little, I think this would be a stellar dish. The sourdough bread was easy to cut into, without a struggle – which I appreciate.
Organic Eggs Benedict
I bought some croissants home for my family – a sweet & savoury one. The Stego ($4.50 nett) is a roasted almond x almond paste variant, & the Mammoth ($4.90 nett) is a pork floss one. IMHO these are priced quite steep, but with Shopback GO’s 35% cashback, that eased the pain a little. I bought these as gifts, so I didn’t get to try them… But here are some pictures.
With brunch options, pastries & coffee, I shall return here again for sure. I’d order at the counter on the 1st floor, & head up the stairs to the 2nd floor to chill my morning/afternoon away. While there aren’t many seats in this small space, the floor-to-ceiling windows let in great ambient light to brighten the premises – although unfortunately there isn’t much of a view, looking out towards Clementi Road & the neighbouring overpass.
There even is an easel for kids (& adults, I suppose) to draw on & express their artistic talents. But I’m happy to just sit in a corner, using their free WiFi & listening to their chill music playlist playing softly in the background.

But for now, during circuit breaker month, everyone stay indoors, safe & healthy. We’ll get through this together!

Trapizza is located right by Siloso Beach in Sentosa. Admittedly quite the journey to get here, I persevered because I can’t say no to a good breakfast & also Italian food. If you love alfresco dining, this is the place for you. If not, there’s still a spot for you here – seek refuge in their air-conditioned indoor dining area!
Al Fresco Dining Area
I reckon it’d be perfect outdoors with the cool temperatures lately (of course, provided it isn’t raining cats & dogs). I arrived a Sweaty Betty though, as this was pre-Singaporean-winter days. Quenched my thirst with a bottle of Organic Sparkling Passionfruit & Orange Juice ($12++). Lightly flavoured & slightly fizzy, this did the job. Don’t be a dumb dumb like me & shake the bottle in a disoriented state, though. It IS, after all… Sparkling 😂
Organic Sparkling Passionfruit & Orange Juice
[BREAKFAST MENU] We dove right into the breakfast items from Trapizza’s “Hot from the Pan” menu, starting off with the Wagyu Minute Steak & Eggs ($32++). I don’t eat beef for breakfast regularly, so this was new to me.
I certainly enjoyed it, though 😍 Perfectly poached eggs with runny yolks, & tender slides of beef. The hearty ratatouille with lightly toasted bread on the side tied all the flavours together quite well.
Wagyu Minute Steak & Eggs
I can imagine waltzing here from the nearby Rasa Sentosa Hotel to have a relaxing breakfast by Siloso beach. Don’t come here too late, though – breakfast hours are for a short window only, 9-11AM on weekends!
If poached eggs aren’t your thing, try the Italian Sausage Breakfast Platter ($26++). You don’t just get sausage with this, you also get bacon. The scrambled eggs are cooked fluffy & slightly runny.. & I just realized you can’t see them in this photo, lol. But that just shows how much food you’re getting, quite the bang for your buck.
Love carbs? You will enjoy the chunky oven-roasted potatoes with a pleasant bite to them. It’s great how you get a good variety of carbs, meat & vegetables in this one.
Italian Sausage Breakfast Platter
Should you be looking for something lighter on the palate, try the Organic Homemade Mango Granola ($12++) from the Healthy Selection of the menu.
The sweetness of the mangoes contrasted well with the sourness of the yogurt, & the granola added crunch with every bite. I quite liked everything about this.. It was so addictive. Something you can really keep eating & before you know it, you’ve finished the whole thing.
Organic Homemade Mango Granola
[LUNCH MENU] Trapizza’s pizza menu is extensive, which means there’s bound to be something for everyone. Each pizza is handcrafted & wood-fired, & it’s on a thin-crust base that makes it easy to eat. I’m not a fan of crunchy-thin pizza bases; thankfully this was just the right thickness for me (that’s what she said).
Got my hands grubby with the Pizza Siciliana ($28++), which has a sauce that is tomato-based. They have some cream sauce pizza options as well, which I would be keen to try next time.
I surprisingly enjoyed this pizza despite not being big on salami or sausages. We’re talking about chunks of traditional Sicilian pork sausage – which, like the salami, weren’t too salty for my liking. The vegetables added variety in terms of textures & tastes too: Roasted capsicums, onions, baby spinach.. A yummy dish great for sharing.
Pizza Siciliana
The Risotto di Mare ($29++) is a match made in heaven. Each grain of arborio rice was cooked al dente in a rich lobster bisque, & the plethora of seafood is commendable: Mussels, clams, prawns. My favourite was the prawn as it was super juicy, even at the end of my meal when you’d think it’d be cold & hard? Nope. Shiok ’til the end.
This IS a very rich dish that tastes like the ocean (in a good way), so it may not be for everyone. But it’s a clear winner in my books. The awesome juicy AF tomatoes make an appearance here too. Such a perfect dish that I would order again in a heartbeat.
Risotto di Mare
[DESSERTS] There’s always room for dessert, right? Check out their homemade Tiramisu ($12++) with a cute squidgy of espresso. It squirts nicely in the middle & spreads out, so those who love coffee can dig in there, & those who want less of it can tuck in by the side.
This is a perfectly light & fluffy tiramisu, with the taste of coffee & liqueur not overwhelming on the palate. Despite it being light, I can’t imagine finishing this on my own, so I was glad to have friends to share this with. I mean, this IS a pretty sizeable jar… You’re getting real value for money here.
Tiramisu
For those who aren’t about the creamy life, try the Italian Torta Di Limone ($13++), a lemon tart with strawberry ice cream. In theory this sounds like it’d be hella sour – but no! It was actually quite a balanced dessert.
The lemon flavour was slightly tart (as in, sour) indeed, but the slight sweetness of the tart base & strawberry ice cream made it more pleasant. I recommend having a bit of each on your fork/spoon each mouthful.
Discovered Kong Cafe while surfing Instagram – initially intruiged by their all-day happy hour promotion of 3 bottles of beer for $18. I soon learnt that they also serve coffee, brunch & dinner fare so I decided to pay them a visit.
I spy beer happy hour & a smile
Their menu is plastered all over their walls near the cashier, & I took some time to read through them.
Kong Café’s paper menus stuck on their walls
Eventually, I ordered the Scrambled Eggs on Sourdough Toast, which unfortunately is not available on its own. It’s mandatory to order an add-on, which I think is quite a shame because I didn’t actually want any of them – Hummus, Sausage, Homemade Chutney, Bacon. I decided on the sausage in the end, making my Scrambled Eggs on Sourdough Toast with Sausage $13.50 nett.
Scrambled Eggs on Sourdough Toast with Sausage
This was served very quickly. It honestly doesn’t look like much, but it tastes pretty good. The scrambled eggs are creamy & slightly runny, just the way I like them. I just admit that the sausage gives the dish saltiness in good proportion. The sliced sourdough bread was impressively toasted to perfection! Crust not too hard (still easy to bite into), & the soft part of the bread pillowy & fluffy.
I do hope they consider putting just Scrambled Eggs on Sourdough Toast on its own on the menu. I’d frequent this place more often if they did.
Ordered a Flat White ($5.50 nett small, $6.50 nett large) to go with my brunch; got the large one at a promotional price of $6.00 nett. Pleasantly surprised at how easy this is to drink, yet has that oomph of a double shot of coffee to kick you awake. Would return here again for the coffee, to just spend time chillin’ here.
Nice art, nice coffee
The interior decor here is bare & minimalist; the floor-to-ceiling windows that face the main road (Dunearn Road) let a lot of light in, which makes the space bright & welcoming.
It wasn’t crowded on a Saturday afternoon when I visited, & a nice chill playlist plays softly in the background while customers chit chat or do work. There is a study area of 8 small tables on one side, & the remaining other tables have “No Studying” signs next to them.
Roomy, well-lit interior of Kong Café
Parking is free (though limited) at Sime Darby Centre on weekends – the parking lot is on level 2 right outside Cold Storage. But if you’re taking transport, Kong Cafe is right next to King Albert Park MRT.
