Project Açaí – Pickups at Holland Village During Circuit Breaker

During this circuit breaker period, Project Açaí’s outlets at Taka, Vivocity & Katong are closed, but their Holland Village one is open for curbside or pre-order pickups

Nuts for Açaí Bowl (Top), Original Flower Bowl (Bottom)

This is what I ordered:

  • Original Flower Bowl ($9.30 nett, medium)
  • Nuts for Açaí Bowl – Almond & Cashew Butter ($9.30 nett, medium)
  • Sambazon Açaí Sorbet Pint ($20 nett for a set of 2) – this is on the sweet side, & the unsweetened version is $6 more expensive (for a set of 2) so that’s a bummer!

WhatsApp them for the menu (not sure why they don’t just put it online) & send them your order in the correct format that they’ll provide to you. Take note to use the correct number for their Holland Village outlet (I messaged the wrong outlet at first).

Possible payment modes: PayNow or GrabPay. During busy periods they might take more time to make your bowl (up to 60 – 90 mins), so be patient. If you’re in a rush, not sure if this is a good idea. It always helps to plan/order in advance.

When it’s time, drive up to the back of the store at your confirmed timing to pick it up. Their website has helpful photos if you need a guide. You don’t even have to get out of your car.. Which is great because parking at Holland Village is always such a pain.

Teapulse Now Delivers Kombucha & Probiotics Health Drinks

I’ve been having the strangest craving for kombucha in recent weeks. So when I chanced upon Teapulse’s Instagram post that they now do island-wide deliveries (thanks, #circuitbreaker), I immediately jumped on it. Each day, they deliver to a different region based on location – makes a lot of sense for their logistics.

They have various options available:

  1. “Pure” probiotics lemonade concentrates (250ml for $16)
  2. “Pure” undiluted kombucha (800ml for $25, or 250ml for $5.20)
  3. “Concoctions” of ready-to-drink kombucha/probiotics drinks (250ml for $5.60)

#1 & #2 come in glass jars/bottles (respectively); these should be mixed in the appropriate ratios before drinking. Fret not, it’s easy to do & your order comes with a detailed instructions sheet to follow.

Helpful instructions

For those who are lazy to mix up a storm, you can opt for #3 – these, however, come in plastic bottles which I’m not a fan of.

I DM-ed them on Instagram to get their order sheet, which they promptly sent over & informed me of what flavours (for #2) were available for the week. I filled it up to make up the minimum $30 for free delivery & sent it back to them on WhatsApp. Paid up by PayNow & they advised me on delivery timing.

Happily received my stash on time, the day of:
#1 – Probiotics Brown Lemonade Concentrate
#2 – Pure Kombucha (Osmanthus, Green Tea)
#3 – Lemongrass Kombucha with Aloe Vera

My Teapulse stash of kombucha & probiotics lemonade concentrate

Immediately drank #3 (left-most one) & shared it with my mum – her first time. She liked it & didn’t find it too acidic/vinegary! As for the rest, I am slowly mixing them & going through my stash.

Pleased with this experience & will order from them again. Teapulse has actually been on my Burpple wishlist for a while, but I hadn’t had time to stop by their store at Phillip Street.

When the time comes & stores are allowed to re-open, I’d like to swing by to show my support. You can also get 1-for-1 drinks here on Burpple Beyond, which gives me even more reason to visit… Hehehe.

SaladStop! – For A Healthier You

When I was younger, I used to not order salads. Ever. Then I went to America (the state of Virginia, no less) & was horrified by how much everyone ate. & how massive everything was – I mean, cupcakes the size of both of my fists put together!?

That was the first time I ever ordered a salad, out of desperation to cleanse my body. Since then, no turning back. I now eat a lot, drink too much, but I also eat salads from time to time.

My dinner tonight from SaladStop! doesn’t look great, but it satisfied me after a gruelling workout. “Grain Bowls” here are $9.90 nett; they come with a default leafy base of lettuce (anything else e.g. Spinach/Kale costs extra), & your choice of grain – brown rice or quinoa (surprisingly, the latter doesn’t cost extra).

My SaladStop! Grain Bowl

You get 7 toppings; I chose sliced lotus root, broccoli, long beans, chickpeas, pickled cucumber, grated hard boiled egg, edamame. You can add premium toppings for extra, but na bro.

Not gonna lie, I couldn’t eat this without my sauce of choice – Thai Turmeric. I usually eat my salads sauceless, but this was actually really bland 😂 The sourness & spicy kick from the sauce really turned this salad around to be more palatable.

In all, yum yum in my tum tum. & delighted to get 5% cashback here thanks to Shopback GO, too!

Perfect with my Chobani Greek yogurt (Redmart had a sale hehe) & big fat blueberries from my neighbourhood fruit stall.

Why is The Daily Cut’s Food So Oily?

Is it just me? Each time I eat at The Daily Cut, after the first mouthful I find it too oily for my liking. I come here wanting to eat healthier, & oil isn’t part of my must-eat.

The last time I dined here, I ordered the steak as well & paid extra for it. It was so tough that I broke TWO forks in TWO places, thereafter vowing never to eat steak at a place that uses only plastic cutlery. I didn’t even finish the beef because I was so tired of chewing.

My bowl which has good ingredients but was drenched in oil

Fast forward 3 years; the quality of the steak has definitely improved. But the oilyness that I remember still remains. I mean, I’d still finish the bowl, but…. #justsayin

I ordered the regular ($12 nett) bowl which comes with 2 bases, 1 protein (which you can substitute for 3 vegetarian-friendly supplements, 3 supplements, 1 topping, 1 dressing.

This is what I got –
· Bases: Whole-grain pasta & quinoa
· Protein: Striploin steak (+$1)
· Supplements: Bell peppers, brussels sprouts, egg whites, button mushrooms (I added $1 because I opted for an extra supplement)
· Topping: Toasted pumpkin seeds
· Dressing: Mint yogurt (which I eventually donated to a friend I bumped into)

Thankfully I had a 10% cashback boost from Shopback GO to lessen the pain. Still, though, not sure if I’d return here again. At least not in the next 3 years.

Workspace Espresso – Healthy Eating at Velocity @ Novena Square

Initially, I wasn’t sure if I should be eating this much post-workout. But by the end of my meal I was like, Workplace Espresso Bar y’all did goooood.

Basic salads here cost $9.90 nett, includes 1 grain (but you can chose 2 types) + 2 cold proteins + 4 toppings + 1 sauce.

My DIY salad bowl at Workspace Espresso Bar (sauce on the side not pictured)

I opted for soba & couscous (you can mix 2 types for variety or just choose 1 type), chicken & diced prawns, grilled sweet potato, edamame beans, hard boiled egg, mushrooms, & lime cashew sauce on the side. Portions are big here; I was definitely full at the end of my meal.

I was particularly impressed by the chicken, as it wasn’t dry or tasteless. It was surprisingly moist & tasted slightly tangy too. Premium ingredients cost more – the chicken isn’t premium, but the diced prawns are.

Still a decent variety at the end of the night

Despite it being the end of the night (by the time I left, one of the staff was mopping the floor already), they still had a decent variety of ingredients, though some ran out (e.g. pulled beef).

Happy that I discovered Workspace Espresso Bar out of sheer coincidence; impressed with the quality, quantity & price point. Will definitely come back here to dine healthy again.

Even happier that I got to boost my cashback via Shopback GO to 20%, as it was my first visit & it coincides with this promotional period! After my first visit, it goes back to 3% cashback but that’s still a good deal.

A pleasant surprise from Shopback GO – just a tap of a button & my cashback is boosted!

My cashback was tracked in a matter of minutes after I paid, though I understand with some cards & some merchants it may take a while longer.

Shopback GO tracked my cashback very quickly
